"The flame of love, when it is most vehement, is the quietest.”

- St John of the Cross

What We'll Cover:

Strahan will share his own story of prophetic experience since childhood, in both negative and positive experiences in church community, and his journey from uncertainty and anxiety in prophetic experience to a thriving prophetic life and renewed vision for prophetic ministry in our time.

You'll Also Learn:

  • An historic definition and vision of prophecy

  • What prophetic minsitry is and the difference between hearing from God, the gift of prophecy, prophetic ministry and the prophetic vocation

  • Our prophetic sensitivity and how we thrive in the world, relationships and ourselves amist it

  • Prophetic voicing and understanding what to do with what we recieve

    Who Is It For?

This teaching course is specifically oriented for people who have an experience of some kind, small or large, in the prophetic, who may be in active prophetic ministry already or who may feel a tentative, gentle calling toward it. It's also for folks who have been ministering in the prophetic for a long time, who emerge from their backgrounds scathed or unscathed, and who are keen to explore a historical, contemplative framework for our beloved ministry.

In other words, it’s for those who are, and who feel called to, prophetic ministry in the church.

If that’s you, let’s go on a journey together.

About

"The flame of love, when it is most vehement, is the quietest.” - St John of the Cross.

Living with a prophetic gift is no small thing. It’s a way of being—of seeing and feeling the world in a heightened, often overwhelming way. The weight of discernment, the tension of sensing what others don’t, the disorientation at times of what we’re experience and the loneliness that can come from being misunderstood—it all weaves together into a unique, beautiful, and sometimes heavy calling.

How do we carry this gift well? How do we listen deeply, speak wisely, and remain tender rather than burnt out? How do we walk in love when others don’t always see what we do? This course is an invitation into those questions.

We’ll explore the prophetic life as more than a skill but a rhythm, a way of abiding in God’s presence. We’ll wrestle with everything from what prophecy is, receiving and sharing revelation, discerning God’s voice with clarity, and navigating the challenge of speaking truth in a world that often resists it. It will offer a frame for a new way of living in and expressing the prophetic and how we can reintegrate this incredible gift and role in the church.

We’ll also root ourselves in the wisdom of the desert fathers, the mystics, and the ancient prophets—learning how to burn with the quiet fire God’s love, not just with knowledge.

Together we’ll walk through:

  • The role of prophecy in this present moment

  • Understanding our unique prophetic wiring

  • How to receive, process, and share revelation

  • Prophetic wisdom—learning when, how, and why to speak

  • The weight of prophetic sensitivity and how to carry it well

  • Dreams, visions, and discernment

  • Maturing into healthy, grounded prophetic people

This is about more than gifting—it’s about formation. My hope is that by the end, we’ll not just prophesy, but embody love, becoming a people who bear God’s presence with both fire and gentleness.

ABOUT

Join us for a special gathering at St. Francis Church in Tairua, nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s Coromandel, for two days of prayer, teaching, rest, and quiet communion. Together, we will step into the ancient practice of beholding prayer —guided by Strahan Coleman, pray-er, poet, and author of Beholding: Deepening Our Experience in God.

In Beholding, Strahan weaves the poetic and the practical, exploring what it means to move from a transactional relationship with God to a friendship. He reveals prayer not as conscious mental dialogue alone, but a deeply satisfying inter-being with God. In this prayer school, you’ll be taught the theology of beholding prayer, hear Strahan’s story, get practical about exactly how to pray, and learn how to lead others in beholding prayer.

The course is based on Strahan’s book but will also include new teaching and practices not included in it and includes a focus on the church and leading others in this way of prayer and being.

These prayer schools aren’t only about content, they’re about being in prayer together and experiencing the depth, love and community that arises for sharing God together.

On this course we’ll cover

  • A biblical definition of beholding prayer

  • A deeper understanding of the gospel of friendship with God

  • A theology of abiding in the trinity

  • How prayer effects our neurology

  • The difference between meditation and contemplation

  • The journey of prayer throughout our lives

  • Techniques for practicing beholding prayer

  • How to lead others in this form of prayer

  • What beholding communities can look like

  • A contemplative/charismatic framework for prayer

What to Expect
This isn’t just a school; it’s an invitation to pause, to be nourished, and to dwell in stillness. The days will be framed by shared meals, teaching sessions, experiences in the nature and beauty of Tairua, guided prayer, and plenty of time to reflect, rest, and connect with others.

Spaces are limited.

ABOUT

Join us for a special gathering at St. Francis Church in Tairua, nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s Coromandel, for two days of prayer, teaching, rest, and quiet communion. Together, we will step into the ancient and present reality of longing—our thirst for God and God’s thirst for us—guided by Strahan Coleman, prayer guide, poet, and author of Thirsting: Quenching Our Soul’s Deepest Desire.

In Thirsting, Strahan weaves the poetic and the practical, exploring the human ache for connection and the divine pursuit of intimacy. He reveals desire not as something to suppress but as the holy ground where God meets us—through our fire, our thirst, and our humanity. In this prayer school, you’ll be invited to sit with these themes, to listen deeply, and to allow your longing to become the meeting place with Love.

Course Sessions
Over six sessions, Strahan will help us navigate the deep waters of human and divine desire:

  • Desire (Human): The fire within us—what it feels like, how it shapes us, and what it reveals.

  • Desire (God): Exploring the Trinity as the ultimate longing and the eternal union of love.

  • New Frames: Reflecting on the disordered ways we try to satisfy our desires and what a prayerful, communion growing path may be.

  • The Conversation: Discovering prayer as a mystical dialogue with God, not only words but presence.

  • Say Yes: Learning to open the door to Christ with courage, vulnerability, and a willingness to be seen in our nakedness.

  • Praying the Pain: Holding the tension of unfulfilled desires and allowing God to meet us in the ache.
